In 1953, the Atlantic Coast Conference was founded in Greensboro, North Carolina where the headqaurters is located today. The ACC is considered one of America's top college conferences and has a history of setting standards. Greensboro has been the host city to more ACC basketball tournaments than any other city. Citizens and city leaders all across Greensboro hail the idea of an ACC Sports Hall of Fame. Part of Action Greensboro's downtown comprehensive plan outlines the need for regional attractions in our center-city. The ACC Hall of Fame would not only attract visitors from around the region, but would attract visitor's from around the country. Building the hall of fame in close proximity to the planned downtown ballpark would help create a synergetic sports and entertainment environment. If built, the museum would become the first and only college conference hall of fame in the country. The ultimate decision for building the hall of fame falls into the hands of the ACC.
