Greensboro has a rich heritage in the arts. The Gate City has a number of art galleries and a regional drama theater called Triad Stage opened a few years ago. A performing arts museum could celebrate the music, theater and film making heritage of the Piedmont and beyond. A collection of movie props from many movies made in North Carolina could be put on exhibit in the museum. Film making is an industry that many civic leaders would like to see grow in the Piedmont Triad. North Carolina is one of the most well known states for film making. A museum like this would compliment that industry here in the Triad as well as the other cultural attractions within downtown Greensboro. What better place to build a museum like this than next to the historic Carolina Theatre? The Carolina Theatre was once nicknamed "the Showplace of the Carolinas" and a major performing arts museum will only help bring more events such as movie premiers, film festivals, music events and theatrical events to this historic treasure.
